Smriti releases DIG Nitu’s book ‘To Greater Heights’

MAR 09, 2020 JAMMU: Smriti Z Irani, Minister of Women and Child Development and Textiles on Sunday released the latest book of DIG CRPF Nitu Bhattacharya ‘To Greater Heights' during the National Conference for Women in Police at New Delhi. The book chronicles the lives of women in the police who achieved greater heights in their organisations. Shakti Devi of the J&K Police became the first Indian to be awarded the International Female Peacekeeper Award by the United Nations for her work in Afghanistan. Bindu Kumare of the CRPF made the Supreme sacrifice at the altar of duty defending the Srinagar Airport. She was conferred the Police Medal for Gallantry posthumously. Mamta Kharab of the Haryana Police is an international Hockey player. Rekha Mishra of the RPF has rescued numerous children from the railway stations. Sunita of the Punjab Police is an Arjuna Awardee in Athletics Pooja of CRPF is the first Indian to win a Gold at the World Wushu Championship. Shobha of the Maharashtra Police is known for her Marathons. Santo Devi of the CRPF was awarded the PPMG for her bravery during terrorist attack at Ayodhya.
